UPDATE! Our circus summer camp is unable to take more regular registrations for either session at this time. (A limited number of Emerson students still have an alternate means to register). We are creating a waiting list, though, and there is some chance that additional spots will become available. If you wish to be put on the waiting list, please write to firstname.lastname@example.org and provide the full name and age of the child, your name and phone number, and which session or sessions your child would be available to attend. All the rest of the information below is still correct.
SPECIAL COVID CONSIDERATIONS: As we know, the pandemic is not over. Precautions are still required. PYCA has an excellent safety record and we intend to maintain that.
- Enrollment will be limited to 28 campers
- Masks will be required for all campers and staff at all times except when eating and drinking
- Students will bring their own small bottle of hand sanitizer (to keep at their station with water bottle etc), which will be used between activities
- Parents will be required to sign a COVID statement testifying to the state of health of their camper and lack of exposure to the virus (as far as can be determined), and initial that each day
- Full refunds will be given for campers that need to miss camp because of COVID-related health or exposure conditions
- Attendance at the final show for each session may be limited in order to maintain adequate distancing

(A camper can attend either one or BOTH sessions)
Camp Hours: 9AM – 3PM (drop off begins at 8:30AM)
Location: the Gymnasium at Emerson Elementary School, 915 E Palm Lane, Phoenix, AZ 85006
Who can sign up? kids ages 7 – 16
What will the kids do? Campers will learn all the circus basics – juggling of different forms, acrobatics, balancing, aerial skills (such as silks, Spanish Web, trapeze) and clowning. Each camper gets to try all the different skills and then towards the end of the week they choose two skills to specialize in. The last day of camp finishes with a show for family and friends!
Cost: Circus camp sessions are $225 per week. Discounts are available for kids attending both weeks of camp and for siblings attending the same session. Limited scholarships will be available for some campers whose families need financial help at a rate of $50 per week (or sliding scale pay-what-you-can), with preference given to students members of the Emerson circus club, other Emerson students and students of other PYCA title 1 programs. Payment: Registration and Payment for the Central Phoenix camp can be done via credit or debit card by clicking here . Payments are made to the “Technical Assistance Partnership of Arizona” (TAPAZ is PYCA’s fiscal sponsor). Payments can also be made by personal check made out to “TAPAZ-PYCA” and mailed to the contact address on this website.
Cancellation policy – Full payment is due to register for camp. In order to assure we have the correct staffing levels, we will use the following policy: If you need to cancel your registration, 50% of the cost will be returned if the cancellation is more than four weeks from the start of the camp session you have paid for. Less than four weeks prior to the start of a camp session, credit will be given for camps in the future and handled on a case-by-case basis. COVID-related cancellations will receive a full refund.
Registration Form – each camp participant must have a completed registration and liability waiver form by the beginning of camp. You can view and download the form here. For “name of class”, write “Phoenix Summer Day Camp”. The form can also be filled out at the first day of camp – but no child will be able to participate fully without a signed waiver.
