SUMMER CAMP STATUS (under the always-evolving situation caused by the COVID19 pandemic) – PYCA is moving ahead with our Moab, Utah summer camp!
The city gym is reopened and the recreation department sees no obstacle to hosting the camp in their facility. After months of staying home, parents are anxious for their kids to take part in circus fun.
Does this mean everything is “back to normal”? By no means. PYCA will continue to pay attention to the latest information about the transmission of the corona virus, the level of infections and hospitalizations in Grand County – and guidance on sensible practices that will mitigate the possibility of adding to the problem by holding the camp. Exactly what that will mean remains to be seen. If you have particular concerns, please write to PYCA and those thoughts will be reflected in how we run the camp.
At the very least, it seems prudent to ask that all participants be 100% healthy and not be exhibiting symptoms that are associated with corona virus, regardless of whether they have been tested or not. And that means that PYCA must be willing to offer refunds even at the last minute – because no one should have a financial incentive to take a chance with their own or other people’s health. We will ask that participants adhere as much as they possibly can to social distancing outside the camp before and during the weeks of circus camp – that means your family should be thinking about that every day starting now! We will have smaller groups than usual. Luckily my coaching staff is still available in spite of all the uncertainty and we will have our aerial specialist, Morgan Sharketti, with us – even if our overall enrollment is lower. We will avoid some activities such as partner acrobatics that put us literally on top of one another. We will make consistent hand-washing and equipment-cleaning part of our daily routines. We do not want to require mask-using during camp – but we reserve the right to change that if local conditions warrant it. We will have to alter our drop-off and pick-up procedures. We may have to change our plans for a final show. So with all that said, come on and register! Here are the usual details:
Here is what some parents said about our camp!
“My kids have participated in Circus Camp in Moab for three years and LOVE it! It’s the activity they most look forward to each summer. The coaches are encouraging, safe and fun. I like that not only are my kids having fun, being active, and learning technical skills, but they’re also gaining self-confidence and teamwork. They’ve used all these valuable skills outside of camp.” Sara Skowbo (Moab camp 2017-2019)
“My daughter had a blast last week! She told me that it was hands down the best camp she’s ever been to! “ N. Lawson (June 2018)
