On March 12, the Phoenix Youth Circus Arts students from Acclaim Academy performed a medley of circus acts to open their school’s annual performing arts concert, Hurray for the Arts. The kids did a great job! They were all excited to present their new tricks and skills for their families and friends in the beautiful theater at Copper Canyon High School. Circus classes have been going on once a week for selected students from each grade level since October. Since January, each class had to concentrate on the routine and the skill that they would present at Hurray for the Arts. The fourth graders did object manipulation, the fifth graders did rolling and tumbling, the sixth grade girls did pyramids, the sixth grade boys did mini-trampoline, and the seventh graders did rola-bola. We all are looking forward to more circus fun after their spring break – and possibly more opportunities to perform.
